Little Margaret Pitkin's grave at Green Mount Cemetery in Montpelier.  This cemetery has some of the neatest headstones.  Margaret died of spinal meningitis at age 7, in 1899.  Local folklore is that her father gave the monument company a photograph of her and wanted her monument to be an exact replica. When the monument was finished, her father refused to pay for it based on the fact that the left shoe was missing a button. The monument company was about ready to void the bill when they looked at the photograph, showed it to the father upon which he paid for the monument as there was a button missing in the photograph.
